Word: Bellicose

Demonstrating aggression and willingness to fight.

Word Origin: Late Middle English (1400 – 1450) from the Latin bellicosus (from bellum, meaning pertaining to war).
Use in a sentence:
1. The fans had their say again and attitudes were conversational rather than bellicose and confrontational.
2. The warrior’s words were strident and bellicose.

She has been an armored child since her Father, in whom he made her his Princess, dumped her andcrancto another State with a psychopath. (Heart armored) she was the sweetest child. I only hope and pray that that child will some day return.

Pugnacious is one of the word’s many synonyms, which I’ve listed on my post. I like that word, too, and have probably used it more ofetn than Bellicose. Thank you for your comment, Alexander. 🙂
It is a great word, and we have just rid ourselves of a bellicose politician in our state! But like you, I think pugnacious sounds better. Better visual imagery, of a hostile pug dog!!

Something that has always fascinated me is the analogy among words in different languages. This word is quite similar in french (male: belliqueux) italian (male:bellicoso) and spanish (male: belicoso) !, In German? kriegerisch :P~ best wishes. Aquileana 😉
