Book Promotion!

This is definitely the shortest post I’m likely to make for a while. I just wanted to let people know that Book 1 of my Sons of Kings trilogy, Shadow of the Raven will be free on Amazon for three days, starting on April 3.

Anyone who enjoys a Viking adventure tale may be interested in this book. I had another great review on the Amazon.com site only yesterday. The review was headed by the phrase. ‘Well written historical fiction from a rising star.’ I owe huge thanks to that person, whoever it is. It’s no one I know, from WordPress or anywhere else.

Reviews are so important to writers, not just to inflate their egos. They help the writer see what they are doing right, or wrong, as well as helping to get their books noticed. Needless to say, if anyone out there downloads my book this weekend, a review would be soooo much appreciated! Of course, it’s certainly not obligatory. Just downloading it would be of enormous help to me.

Well, that’s it from me for the moment. I’d better get back to writing Book 3 …

    1. Now, ahhsioux, I don’t know whether to believe that or not! Instict tells me it’s just your wappy sense of humour, but who knows…? If you are Danish, I hope you don’t wear your horned helmet too often in public. People might get the wrong idea about you! hahaha. Thank you for that, ahhsioux – much appreciated. 🙂

      1. Actually it’s true. Both sets of Greats 100%. My Paternal Grandmother named Thor, from a farm. Maternal Grandfather a Danish minister. Haha, so less thorny.. Except I’m an Aries (or Ram), so I guess I’m just plain doomed. Fortunately age dulls the thorn;).

      2. Your comments just get better …! Those Danes just got everywhere, didn’t they? I’m an Aries, too, by the way – birthday a week away. i don’t look forward to birthdays nowadays, they just remind me of how old I am and that depresses me. In my head I’m still in my twenties. Happy birthday to you, whenever it is, ahhsioux. 🙂

      3. Mine’s April 11th! So, your birthday’s Easter Sunday this year. When that happened to me as a child, people used to give me extra Easter Eggs. Can’t be bad, eh? 🙂

      4. I have one hell of a Twitter feed. I’m going to reblog this on it. This should give you some looksees :). Take care.

  1. Wow! Congratulations! I will be looking for it. I get daily emails from Book Bub and frequent emails from EBookHabit. If I don’t see it on those, I will go searching for it. Thank you for letting us know!

    1. That’s very nice of you, PJ! I think EBookHabit will be sending out tweets for me this time, but it probably won’t be in their newsletter. I’ve never dealt with Book Bub, so I know they won’t mention the book. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my post! It’s very much appreciated. 🙂

      1. I have tried to learn more of this language but it is very difficult. It has a lot of grunts in it (not trying to be funny). This is the language that was used in WWII to help the free world win the war. The Navajo servicemen were called “The Code Talkers.”

    1. Thank you for your kind wishes, Shivangi. It’s difficult to fit reading time into your day when you’re very busy, especially with a young child – or more! 🙂

  2. Congratulations. I too will endeavour to find time. Reviews are so important and so lovely when they appear from people you don’t know – yes, not ego, but just good to know what you’re doing is appreciated and what really touches me is that someone took the time to let me and others know what they thought.

    1. It’s so good to feel that your writing does appeal to others, as you say. It makes further writing so much more pleasurable, knowing it may reach out to readers other than yourself! As you say, Bekki, it isn’t ego, and it’s really nice to know that someone has taken the time to give their views. (I’m in danger of turning into a parrot right now, so I’d better shut up!) You’re spot on with your observations … big thanks for that! 🙂

  3. Big congrats to you Millie! ❤ The book cover looked so cool and adventurous!!! 😉 I'm sure this book is an amazing read 😉 Wish you a great success on this one! 🙂 🙂 🙂

      1. You’re welcome sweetie 🙂 It’s just a wonderful feeling to know you are releasing your book and I feel like I’m a part of the progress 😛 It’s my pleasure to bring a smile on your face and it is what I like to see 🙂

    1. Thank you for those lovely, kind wishes, Norma. I’m particularly happy with the cover. I had a different one for a while for ‘Shadow’ and I was never happy with it. It was bright blue and quite simplistic. The illustrator who did the new covers for both of my books is excellent (and not very expensive, either!). 🙂

      1. It’s a man – and he lives in Scotland. His prices are really reasonable (I’ve compared him to others) and he’s lovely to work and deal with. If you’re ever in the position to need an illustrator, I’ll happily send you his details. 🙂

    1. Hi, Priya. Thank you so much for asking for this! I’m very grateful. 🙂
Here is the link to ‘Shadow of the Raven’ on Amazon.com (I’ve a feeling that as soon as I click SEND it will bring up the whole front cover as well as the link! It did once before, so if it does, you could just delete it and use the link in my widget bar on my blog. It’s the Amazon US link for .com Here goes …

      1. I would have thought anyone could download free books. There’s no cost. Have you never had books from Amazon before?
Don’t worry, Priya. It was nice of you to think of getting the book for me. But if you’d like to read it, I can always send you an epub or mobi file that you could put onto a Kindle or tablet. It’s mobi for Kindle, epub for the rest. I always send free copies to anyone who asks, in exchange for an honest review. Let me know what you think.

      2. I’ll send you ‘Shadow’ as soon as you let me know which version you’d like, Priya – epub or mobi. You’d have to let me know your email address to send it to, though. I’ve only got two books at the moment, but I’m writing the third now. I hope to have it finished later this year.

      3. I’m in mid-comment on someone’s post at the moment so as soon as I send it I’ll sort it out. Oh, the impatience of youth … Hahaha. 🙂

      4. I think I will. I will read it soon. Though I am bad at writing reviews but I will try to express my opinion

      5. That’s all a review has to be. It can be just a few sentences. But don’t worry if you can’t or don’t want to do one! I don’t want you to feel pressured into it. Honestly! 🙂

      6. No no it’s nothing like that. You got me wrong. I tried earlier. I will again try.

      7. I buy books from Amazon but not ebooks. and amazon.in I don’t think has this subscription thingy.

  4. Reblogged this on Only 100 Words and commented:
Fancy reading something that’s a little longer than 100 words? Here you go.

I’ve had Millie’s book for a while, but I’ve only started reading it last night. I stayed up too long because I couldn’t put it down. It will be free to download for another day or so, so don’t wait.

    1. Wow, Sonya! Thank you so much for the wonderful praise – and the reblog! I’m really grateful for that. To say I’m pleased you liked my book would be putting it mildly. I’d noticed you had it marked ‘to read’ on Goodreads. I just hope you enjoy the rest now. 🙂

      1. Thank you for your kind words, Samantha. We do have to support each other. If you ever get a book out there, I’ll be so happy to help you along, too. 🙂

  5. Sounds intriguing 🙂 I’m adding it to my to-read list, though these days my reading hobby suffers from blogging taking up all my time! I’m in awe of people who can finish writing a book, let alone several! Congratulations!

    1. Thany you for even thinking of adding my book to your list – even if you never get around to reading it. It’s the thought that counts. I think many bloggers have hobbies that suffer because of blogging. It becomes quite addictive, especially the flash fiction challenges. I know I’ve got to cut down if my book’s ever going to be written. It’s nice to meet you, by the way. I’m sure we’ll be chatting again before too long. I love your travel posts – the photos are stunniing. 🙂
