I’ve been nominated by my favourite travel blog thesnowmeltssomewhere to take part in one of the many Three Quotes challenges circulating at the moment. The Snow Melts Somewhere is a great blog for anyone who likes to see photos and read about beautiful places around the world. Posts are about a variety of countries worldwide and are very informative, often with nice little snippets about personal experiences during the trips. I understand that the quotes can be on any subject, and could be a different theme on each of the three days. The ‘golden whisk’ referred to is only figurative, but I’ve added my own little image (even though it isn’t exactly golden) courtesy of Pixabay.
The challenge:
Post a quote for 3 consecutive days.
Rules:
~ Thank the person who nominated you
~ Pass the “golden whisk” on to 3 people
I took a while to decide whether to choose quotes about history, writing, or even travel, because all of those are important to my blog. I still haven’t decided whether or not to ‘mix and match’ …
My first one is a quote about writing:
I find this quote particularly inspirational, and wonderful advice for anyone involved in creative writing. In this image the moon is glinting on the water, not glass, but the same idea applies.
Now here are my three nominees:
Norma at Emovere
Suganiya at Infinite Passion
Hope you can all accept.
I so like your quote, Millie! 🙂 It really is a challenge to write like that (for me, at least!) and that’s definitely an inspiring quote. I’m also flattered by your kind words. Your blog is great, too; there’s so much here to keep a reader entertained. And, as I probably mentioned once, I’m planning on reading your books one day in the near future! I love historical fiction and imaginative writing.
I think once you’ve heard advice like this it helps when you come to describe anything. It is a very inspiring quote, I agree. Thank you for that. 🙂
I love that quote too. Wish I could do it. 😀 😀
Thank you, PJ. It’s one of my favourite writing quotes. And your writing is getting better all the time. I’m pretty sure you could write a great descriptive piece about how the moon was shining. 🙂
LOL Thank you Millie. I think I will try it sometime. 🙂
Fantastic first quote! I love it.
I so love this quote as it gives you an idea as to what to do with your writing. When I first started writing the whole “show and don’t tell” business sounded very confusing, it was only after reading this quote that I understood what this show and tell means. Great choice!
Thanks for the nomination Millie. I’ll be doing it. 🙂
Thanks for accepting! I’ve always loved this quote. It illustrates so much. Don’t just say there was a big moon, or that is was shining, describe how if looks, glinting on glass or water – or how its pale light bathes the landscape. Thank you for liking it, Norma. 😀
I too love it. 🙂
Great quote. So much better than yelling, ‘show don’t tell!’ 😉
Clearly a sceptic!!!
